Hallo Jungs. Danke, dass Ihr uns etwas Zeit für dieses Interview gewehrt haben. Im Mai kommt Ihr neues Album raus. Könnt Ihr uns etwas darüber sagen?
Micky – Es ist schon fertig. Kauft ihn sofort!
Mark – Es handelt sich um ein Dreierpack… Ich habe die erste CD gemischt und Micky die zweite. Die dritte CD ist eine Art ungemischte Bonus Platte für DJs und beinhaltet unter anderem unser neue Single „You Know What’s up“, welche exklusiv zu diese Kompilation gehört.
Wie habt Ihr Euch kennen gelernt um diese Kompilation zusammen zu produzieren? Eure Stilrichtungen sind doch sehr unterschiedlich, oder?
Micky – Es war Mark’s Idee. Ich bin sehr zufrieden, dass er mich ausgesucht hat, um das mit Ihm zu machen. Unser Stylkontrast funktioniert bei dieser Kompilation.
Mark – Ich wollte etwas anders als die üblichen CR2 -kompilation zusammenstellen und, da Micky gerade so ein tolles Jahr hinter sich hatte, dachte ich, dass dies ein sehr interessantes Konzept werden könnte.
Ich habe gehört, dass dieses Album ein exklusiver Track von Euch beiden beinhaltet. Wird es gegebenenfalls als Single herauskommen?
Mark – Wir haben ein exklusiven Track für dieses Album gemacht und es heisst „You Know What’s up“. Es wird als Single zusammen mit genialen Remixes’ herausgegeben. Aber in der Zwischenzeit müsst Ihr das Album kaufen, um eine Kopie zu erhalten. Wir werden keine Promos zur Verfügung stellen sonder veröffentlichen den Track Live bei unsere Auftritte, da wir der Meinung sind, dass die Dateifreigabe unsere Branche tötet.
Mark – Du hattest gerade deinen Track im Englischem Top 15. Wie füllt man sich dabei?
Mark – Es ist ein tolles Gefühl, Charts-Erfolg zu haben, nachdem man die Tracks anderer Leute während 10 Jahren gemixt hat.
Micky – es haben sich einige gewundert, nachdem du am « Jump Around » -Titel herumgeschraubt hast. Seitdem hast Du die Werke von „Dizzee Rascal“ und „Chris Lake“ neu gemischt. Gibt es noch jemand, den Du gerne remixen möchtest oder konzentrierst Du dich jetzt auf Dein eigenes Material?
Micky – Ich konzentriere mich auf originalem Material für mein Label „Bomb Squad Records“, obwohl ich noch sehr mit Remixen beschäftigt bin. Ich sitze ständig im Studio. Ich bin dabei den nächsten „Mighty Dub Katz“ –Release „Keep On Truckin’“ for „Sounthern Fried“ neu zu mischen. Weiter freut es mich sehr, dass gefragt wurde, unter der Leitung von „Brighton Port Authority“ für das nächste „Fatboy Slim“ –Album einen Track zu remixen. Es handelt sich um eine Kooperation mit „David Byrne“… Um ehrlich zu sein denke ich, es handelt sich um das aller Beste, was ich in meiner Karriere erreichen konnte! Ich bin immer noch auf dem Mond. :-)
Wie habt Ihr die Tracks für diese Kompilation ausgewählt?
Micky – Bin durch ein grosses Teil meiner Musik durchgegangen und habe das Beste herausgehoben.
Mark – Es hat mir zwei Monate gekostet, um das Portrait sorgfältig zu selektieren und zu programmieren, welches ich auch in den Klubs spiele.
Was sind Ihre Lieblings-Titeln dort drauf?
Micky – Ich liebe wirklich den von « Dave Robertson » gemischte Titel « Screamo » von « Adam Shaw & Clinton Brown », sowie den von « Stupid Fresh » gemixte Track « HizNHiz » von « Nick Supply ».

CR2, das Label, geht von Highlight zu Highlight. Habt Ihr auch vor auf Tour zu gehen?
Mark – Ja, wir befinden uns gerade in der Mitte einer Welttour… und der nächster Halt ist Australien!
Was ist das komischste Ding das Ihnen bei einem Gig passiert ist?
Mark – Warten wir mal die Tourende ab! Ich bin mir sicher, dass ganz lustige Sachen passieren werden!
Micky – Ich was ganz in Ordnung dieses Mal………… wirklich komisch :)
Wie beschreibt Ihr die Musik die Ihr zurzeit herausbringen? Woher kommt Ihre Inspiration?
Mark – House nach der neuen Schule
Micky – Meine Musik wechselt zurzeit ständig – Big Beat, Filthy aber Groovy… I finde meine Inspiration aus den unterschiedlichsten Musikrichtungen. I höre viel Musik allgemein. Ich liebe Disco, Funk, Soul, Breaks, Hip Hop, Garage, Grime, Reggae und Rock, halt ein bisschen von allem wirklich.
Was bingt Euch zum Groven?
Mark – Alles von Popofi!
Micky – Erde, Wind und Feuer…
Habt Ihr je ein musikalisches Risiko eingehen müssen?
Mark – Ich liebe es ständig Risiken zu nehmen, wenn ich auflege. Das macht die DJ Rolle so aufregend.
Micky – Ich nehme ständig Risiken auf mich zu mit der Musik die ich produziere und auflege. Das ist das Coole dieser Sache; die Eier zu haben seine eigene Ideen zu verfolgen und sie zum Laufen bringen.
Nennen Sie drei Ihrer grössten Einflüsse…
Micky – Musikalisch gesehen habe „Switch“ immer geliebt, da die einen massiven Einfluss auf meine ersten Werke hatten. „Fatboy Slim“ ist ein mein Held und ich denk’, er ist ein Genie. Vor kurzem habe ich bei meinem „Bomb Squad Artists Roster“ -Label mit „Stupid Fresh“ unterschrieben. Die Jungs haben einen massiven Einfluss auf die Musik, die ich spiele, gehabt. Ihrer Musik ist beeindruckend.
Mark – Quicy Jones, Roger Sanchez und Murk
Ohne welchen Ihrer Goodies könntet Ihr nicht mehr leben?
Mark – Meine CDJ1000 -Konsole

Hello guys, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. You have your new album out in May, tell us about it?
Micky – It’s wicked, go buy it....NOW
Mark It's a triple cd… I have mixed CD1 & Micky CD2, CD3 is a bonus unmixed disc for DJS which also includes our single “You Know What’s up” which is exclusive to this compilation.
How did you two get together to do this compilation? Your styles are very different?
Micky - It was Marks idea. I was very happy he chose me to do this with him and I think the contrast in our styles works on the compilation.
Mark - I wanted to do something different to the usual Cr2 compilations and since Micky’s had such a great year, I thought it would be a very interesting concept.
I have heard there is an exclusive track on the album by the 2 of you? How did that come about? Will it be available as a single?
Mark - We have made an exclusive track for the album called ‘You Know what’s up’. It will be available as a single soon and we have some great remixes lined up too but for now, you will have to buy the CD to get a copy. We will not be sending out any promos just a live release to try and avid the file shares which is killing our industry.
Mark – you have just had a Top 15 hit in the UK charts – how did that feel?
Mark - It's a great feeling to have a chart success after 10 years of breaking other peoples records.
Micky – you caused a bit of a stir with your rework of ‘Jump Around’ and since then have remixed the likes of Dizzee rascal &, Chris Lake. . Who would you like to remix or are you concentrating on your own material now?
Micky - I am concentrating on original material for my label Bomb Squad Records but am still really busy with remixes. I’m always in the studio. I am remixing the next Mighty Dub Katz release, ‘Keep On Truckin’ for Southern Fried and I’ve been lucky enough to be asked to do a remix for a track from Fatboy Slims next album under his Brighton Port Authority guise. Its a collaboration with David Byrne… to be honest i feel like its the best thing to happen to me so far in my career, I’m over the moon.
How did you choose the tracks for the compilation?
Micky - Went through a whole load of my music and picked the best.
Mark - it has taken me 2 months to carefully select and programme a true reflection of what I am playing in clubs.
What are your fave tracks on there?
Micky - I really love the Dave Robertson Mix of ‘Screamo’ by Adam Shaw & Clinton Brown and The Stupid Fresh mix of Nick Supplys ‘HizNHiz’, both great tracks.

Cr2, the label, have been going from strength to strength – are you doing tours now aswell?
Mark – Yes, we are currently in the middle of a worldwide tour… next stop Australia!
Whats the strangest thing that has happened to you at a gig?
Mark - Lets wait until our tour has finished! I’m sure there will be some outrageous things happening!
Micky - I was sober this one time.............very strange :)
How do you describe the music that you’re bringing out right now and where do you look for inspiration?
Mark - new school house!
Micky - My music at the moment is changing constantly - Big Beat, Filthy but Groovy… I get inspiration from all different genres of music. I listen to a lot of music. I love Disco, Funk, Soul, Breaks, Hip hop, Garage, Grime, Ragga & Rock - a bit of everything really.
What makes you groove?
Mark - anything by Popof!

Have you ever had to take a massive risk musically?
Mark - I always like to take risks when I play that's what makes djing exciting.
Micky – I’m always taking risks with the music i make and play, thats the fun of it, having the balls to follow your ideas and make it work.
Name three of your biggest influences...
Micky - Musically I have always loved Switch, he had a massive influence on my early work. Fatboy Slim is my hero, I think he's a genius. I have recently signed to my Bomb Squad Artists Roster, Stupid Fresh –they have had a massive influence on what i play, their music is amazing.

What piece of kit can you not live without?
Mark - CDJ1000
